Ingredients

  • 200 g fresh ginger
  • 40 g turmeric
  • 1 litre / 4 cups water
  • 5-7 black peppercorns
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • juice from 2 lemons

Instructions

  • Grate the turmeric and ginger (wear plastic gloves, otherwise your hands and nails will turn yellow!)
  • Warm up the water to a temperature of around 50-55°C (and no more than 60°C) Add the turmeric, ginger and black pepper and leave to steep for 20-30 minutes.
  • Remove from pan and leave to cool down for 20-30 minutes, or when the water is lukewarm. Add the lemon and honey and stir until the honey's dissolved. Set aside to cool.
  • Once cooled, funnel the mixture into a bottle with a lid and keep it in the fridge, where it will stay fresh to around 2-3 weeks
  • Drink a shot of this in the morning - about 40 ml / 3 tbsp a shot!

Notes

  1. Stays fresh in the fridge up to 2 weeks.
  2. It has quite a sharp taste, so you can dilute it with a little bit of water if it's too sharp.
  3. Ginger and turmeric are both quite potent and if you're on any medications or have any health conditions or are pregnant, consult with your GP before taking this daily!
