- 200 g fresh ginger
- 40 g turmeric
- 1 litre / 4 cups water
- 5-7 black peppercorns
- 3 tbsp honey
- juice from 2 lemons
Grate the turmeric and ginger (wear plastic gloves, otherwise your hands and nails will turn yellow!)
Warm up the water to a temperature of around 50-55°C (and no more than 60°C) Add the turmeric, ginger and black pepper and leave to steep for 20-30 minutes.
Remove from pan and leave to cool down for 20-30 minutes, or when the water is lukewarm. Add the lemon and honey and stir until the honey's dissolved. Set aside to cool.
Once cooled, funnel the mixture into a bottle with a lid and keep it in the fridge, where it will stay fresh to around 2-3 weeks
Drink a shot of this in the morning - about 40 ml / 3 tbsp a shot!
- Stays fresh in the fridge up to 2 weeks.
- It has quite a sharp taste, so you can dilute it with a little bit of water if it's too sharp.
- Ginger and turmeric are both quite potent and if you're on any medications or have any health conditions or are pregnant, consult with your GP before taking this daily!
