Watermelon Shake – Cooling, refreshing and the perfect drink to hydrate and cool you down on a hot day!
If you’ve ever been to Thailand, you’ve bound to have had a fruit shake of some sort, as most restaurants sell them, as well as every street corner stall selling freshly made fruit shakes!
I’ve been to Thailand numerous times, and every time I’ve been there I’ve been drinking my own weight in fruit shakes, as they hydrate you (which you need in that heat!) and they really help to cool you down! And they are absolutely delicious too!
All the stalls always sell a range of fresh fruit shakes, like mango, banana, dragon fruit, pineapple and watermelon, which hands down my favourite shake!
I love watermelon shake as it’s not too sweet, it’s light and it’s very hydrating, which is no surprise really as watermelon contains more than 90% water!!!
Watermelon also contains vitamin A and C, which both supports the immune system and is good for the skin! It also contains the antioxidant lycopene, which gives the watermelon it’s red lush colour. Lycopene is a strong antioxidant which can protect your cells against damage and may also support eye health!
Drinking this watermelon shake will hydrate you, but also provide your body with some key nutrients!
And now as summer is just around the corner, and watermelon’s in season, I for sure will be drinking these watermelon shakes!
WATCH HOW TO MAKE WATERMELON SHAKE
In Thailand, they usually add sugar syrup to the shakes to sweeten them. I prefer to add a little squeeze of honey instead when I make these!
However, if the watermelon is sweet enough, as it should be when it’s in season and when you follow the guidelines to pick the right watermelon, you can skip the honey all together if you wish!
This summer, this watermelon shake, alongside with this raspberry slushie, is gonna help me to stay cool in the summer! Along with good ole H2O of course! 😉 how about you?
